Modernising product design for an enhanced user experience
As Alfresco continued to grow, Jesson, the company’s Product Manager, knew they needed to modernize their product suite to keep up with users' evolving expectations. However, with limited internal design resources, Jesson faced a significant challenge: how could Alfresco enhance the user interface (UI) and overall user experience (UX) of their products without slowing down development or compromising on quality?
The stakes were high. To remain competitive and deliver the experience their customers demanded, Alfresco needed a partner who could help them refresh their product design while ensuring ease of use for a diverse, enterprise-level user base.

Partnering with littlevoice: Redefining Alfresco's user experience
When Jesson brought in littlevoice, they didn’t just need a team to execute a UI refresh—they needed a partner who could think beyond conventional enterprise software design and introduce fresh ideas that would elevate the entire user experience. Our reputation for innovative design thinking and user-centered approaches made us the perfect fit for the job.
We dove in immediately, leveraging our extensive design expertise to revamp the UI across Alfresco’s entire product range. Our approach wasn’t just about modernising the look and feel—it was about creating an experience that was both visually appealing and functionally superior. We drew inspiration from outside the traditional software space, introducing design elements inspired by industries like e-commerce, where user expectations for intuitive, seamless experiences are high.

Creating prototypes that wowed the users
Understanding that true innovation comes from user-centered design, we went beyond concepts and created high-fidelity prototypes of the new UI. These prototypes were rigorously tested with real users, ensuring that every design decision aligned with their needs and expectations.
The response was overwhelmingly positive. As Jesson recalls, “Our customers loved the prototypes—they were absolutely blown away by what they saw.” These prototypes weren’t just cosmetic upgrades—they represented a comprehensive modernisation that elevated the entire user experience across Alfresco’s products.

As Jesson reflected,
Littlevoice’s work didn’t just improve our products; it fundamentally changed the way we approach design. They left us with a legacy of innovation that will shape our product development for years to come.”
The impact: immediate results and lasting change
The impact of our work was immediate and transformative. The modernised UI led to increased user satisfaction and higher adoption rates across Alfresco’s customer base. Customers not only found the products easier to use, but the new interface also set a new standard for design within the enterprise software space.
But perhaps even more significant was the internal transformation that took place within Alfresco. Through our collaboration, we didn’t just deliver an improved UI—we also helped elevate the design capabilities of Alfresco’s internal team. The design thinking and user-centred practices we introduced left a lasting legacy, empowering the team to continue innovating long after the project was completed.

As Tony Grout explained,
Anybody can read a book about how to create a customer journey. But the real talent lies in taking customer conversations & turning them into insights that add genuine value to the product team.
A partnership for lasting innovation
Through our collaboration with Jesson and Alfresco, we didn’t just deliver a modernised product suite—we helped reshape their approach to design. By introducing fresh perspectives and building on user-centred innovation, we empowered Alfresco to evolve its products in ways that truly resonated with its customers.
At littlevoice, we believe in creating design solutions that not only solve immediate challenges but also lay the groundwork for long-term success. With Alfresco, we crafted a modern UI that was both functional and forward-thinking, giving their users the seamless experience they needed while empowering their internal teams to continue the journey of innovation.
With littlevoice by his side, Jesson didn’t just refresh the look of Alfresco’s products—he unlocked their potential to deliver a genuinely superior user experience. And with the foundation we built together, Alfresco is now equipped to lead the way in product design in the enterprise software space for years to come.
