Beyond chatting

Why the next generation of AI tools must go past chat interface

I’ve been using a few different AI building tools (Replit, V0, Cursor). The experience is transformational - being able to build software without getting too deep into code.

But the interaction very quickly starts to feel very constrained and slow.
Everything flows through chat. That works, but a lot of nuance is hard to compress into plain text – relations, examples, conceptual thoughts, specific feature ideas.

Imagine trying to build a house with a team of architects and builders but you can communicate only by texting. No sketching. No gestures. No whiteboards. Just words. You’ll probably still get a house — but not the one you imagined.

While natural language is extremely powerful, alone it’s not enough. What’s missing are more expressive forms of interaction – tools that combine language with structured inputs, domain-specific representations, and shared visual context.

Looking forward to the next wave of AI tools that won't just chat with us, but also help us think, see and express ideas better.
